Medical Administrative Assistant
Medical administrative assistants perform administrative functions for a hospital or clinic through their knowledge of medical terminology and applications.
Introduction:
This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers as an Information Technology Assistant, Front Desk Specialist, Medical Office Technologist, and Medical Administrative Specialist in the Business Management and Administration career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning, and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Business Management and Administration career cluster. The medical administrative assistant course is offered to students interested in gaining employment as an administrative assistant in a healthcare setting. Students that complete this course will be eligible to take the national exam through National Health Care (NHA). Completion of this course will enable students to perform daily activities associated with management of medical record and the electronic medical record (EMR).
