Introduction:
Students in the Electrical and Instrumentation Technology strand will develop the high-tech skills necessary for future employment in the exciting new field of Building Automation Systems. Automation is transforming the way facilities manage real-time energy consumption. Students will prepare for employment in this field by learning control theory, IT networking, electrical & mechanical systems, data analysis, energy management strategies, and systems integration.

Employment Outlook:
Employment of electrical and electronics engineering technicians is projected to show little or no change from 2018 to 2028.
Salary:
An entry-level Control/Automation Technician with less than 5 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $48,000, includes tips, bonus, and overtime pay. While a Control/Automation Technician with 5 to 10 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $59,000.
Completion Requirements:
The entire program is 1800 hours. Certain Adult Education Centers do not offer all components of the program. Full completion of the program may be completed at a Technical College. Students can earn a certificate at the completion of the following Occupational Completion Points (OCPs):
